So, here's the question......

So what do you do with a bunch of enthusiastic cricketers who don't really accept that Cricket "doesn't happen" during the winter months ....??

Well, put them back into the Indoor League, of course..... and just for good measure, enter them into the Age Group above as well, ......just for that extra challenge...... !!

And the result ? The team that last year reached the finals and finished East Dorset U12 Indoor League Runners Up have continued in the same way : Currently sitting Top of both the U13 ( Div 1) League, and an impressive "undefeated" Top in the U14 ( Div 2) League....

Very well done, so far to Bashley CC's  Sam Presland, Jack Harris, Toby Mills, Daniel Bailey ( Sway CC), Joshua Bailey ( Sway CC) and  Cpt Joshua Royan ( Lymington CC); Scott Menary and Will Syms

Good Luck for Finals Night Lads.......... Bring it on !

Let's Talk about Libby...

I promised you details of a fund-raising challenge, and I'm delighted to introduce you to Libby Pardoe.....

Libby's younger brother George has played for Bashley ( Rydal) Junior Cricket Club since he a tiny U9. He is now a strapping U15, representing Hampshire within their U15 and U16 squads, training with their emerging player programme, and of course, is now playing for Bashley, this year mainly in the 3rd Team.

Dad Neil also coached and managed Bashley's junior teams for many years, and the whole family was involved in the preparation for the Family Fun Day on August Bank Holiday Monday

In the week following the second consecutive Fun day wash-out, Libby came to the Club Committee with a proposal... a fund-raising swim on behalf of the Club - a distance equivalent to the length of the River Thames, 214 miles in total over the winter season.

Libby is an experienced and enthusiastic, endurance swimmer : in 2012 she swam a mile for every day that the Princess of Wales Regiment served in Afghanistan to raise money for injured servicemen; in 2013 she completed a Cross Channel charity swim with a group of students from Brockenhurst College.

Now a part-time student in London and a  Life Guard at New Milton, she will spend her weekends and evenings swimming her way, mile by mile, through the distance equivalent to the length of the River Thames. All on behalf this time of Bashley ( Rydal) Cricket Club.
And she is already  almost 10 miles into the challenge

In the next few weeks, we hope to be able to bring you news of an opportunity for the Junior Cricketers to join Libby in the pool, and participate in their own right in this fantastic challenge.....

In the meantime, we are sharing the link to the Club's Just Giving Page, which has been set up for this event, and where Libby explains why she is taking this on.
We hope that you will support Libby in this challenge, and encourage others to do the same.....

Fundraising Events for the Autumn

Announcing the details of the forthcoming events to replace the Fun Day and make use of the activities we had planned. Bashley U15 secure their spot at Home Finals Day

In an exciting last-match scramble for points at the top of the U15 league table, Bashley (Rydal) U15 have clinched a win at Beaulieu with sufficient points to reclaim to top spot
Bashley went into the match knowing that they needed a win and 16 points to secure the place at the top of the South League.
Despite the loss of an early wicket and some very economic bowling from Beaulieu’s M. Pooley, Bashley’s batsmen found their form and batted steadily, securing a final score of 157 for 2, (equating to 6 batting points) and solid performances from J. Gaunt ( 32), M. Clark ( 42 retired), J. Harris ( 37 not out) and T. Saunders ( 20 not out)
In reply, Beaulieu’s openers batted confidently, holding pace with the run rate initially. Eventually, the breakthrough came : a stunning one-handed catch followed by 2 wickets for J. Gaunt, and wickets from T. Saunders, S. Presland, Chloe-Ann Anderson, E. Whiting and D. Hart held Beaulieu to 79 for 9 after the full 18 overs.
Full credit to Beaulieu U15 for their sportsmanship in being supported by some younger players.
So with 19 points from the match, Bashley’s average  returned them to the top of the table, and they now progress to the League Play-offs being hosted at Bashley this coming Sunday.
We are delighted to have one of our Junior Squads represented at Finals Day. Well done Guys and Girls !
